Consolidation tips
- The consolidation return, where the merged numbers reside.
- Where to enter the general information data you want to appear on the consolidated return.
- Where and how to list the returns involved in the consolidation.
- Consistency between returns about the level of data entry.
- Clear all overrides at the division level to avoid unexpected results when you are consolidating. If you don't, the system may ignore the underlying detail that might be required during consolidation to perform accurate limitations in certain areas (for example, charitable contributions or gains and losses).
- Don't enter data directly on the consolidated return except for required consolidated data and consolidated overrides. If you enter overrides on fields, that data will be removed when the application consolidates or reconsolidates the return. You may lock an override on the field by highlighting the field and selectingLockfrom the submenu. We don't recommend Override. Overrides cause the detail schedule to show adjustments.
- Don't enter overrides on detailed information carrying from division to divisional consolidations. The overrides will be washed out when the return is reconsolidated, even if the overridden field has been locked.
