General information for all releases
The Direct K-1 Import Tool (DK1) provides a mechanism for importing partner information directly to the Tax Forms via a *.XLS formatted file.
You can only use this feature in the 1065 tax application. This function is normally used to prepare the Schedule K-1s for partnerships required to e-file according to federal or state requirements. These requirements are based on the number of partners in the partnership. You can also use it when a client knows what numbers they want to appear on the Schedule K-1.
To use this tool, you need the following:
- Direct K-1 Import Tool (DK1) Release workbook for the current release, (the file name changes for each release, but will always have a *.XLS extension). Go to theFile downloadspage for your product and save the most current file to your computer.
- Note the changes between the prior version and the current version. Items listed in theDiscontinued,ChangesorNewspreadsheets require an adjustment in your import file (*.PX3) if you are using the specific field listed. See Appendix A: workbook tab definitions for more information.
note
The information in each released DK1 workbook file is not backward-compatible. You must use the DK1 Workbook for the current release. Each DK1 workbook is labeled with the applicable release version or date. Generally, you can use import export when the state is available in the tax application.
