Group and new user import
To create import files, follow these guidelines:
For all import types except for new users use an Excel worksheet. To import new users download the
Import New Users XML
by downloading the template. (see below) Enter each field's data into separate columns (Field Number 1 in Column A, Field Number 2 in Column B, Field Number 3 in Column C, and so on). Once you've entered all the data, save the file as a .csv (comma-separated values) file. If you have numeric account numbers that start with a leading zero, format these numbers as text by adding a leading apostrophe.For all imports except the

, you can use placeholders after the first row for Group Name and Group Location. On the first row, fill in Group Name in Column A and Group Location in Column B. For subsequent rows, leave Columns A and B blank unless you need to specify a different Group Name or Group Location.For

- Select .
- SelectDownload Templateto use to import new users.
- Save the file to your computer.
- To edit the import information in your XML file, you must change the XML template into an editable format. To do this, go to the drive and path where you saved and renamed the XML, and right-click the XML name. SelectEdit.
- By default, the file opens in Notepad. If you select another TXT format, open the XML using theOpen Withoption.
- When the XML import template opens in a TXT format, it will display the information ready to be edited.
- You can import more than one new user at a time through XML import. To do this within the TXT template, copy and paste the initial user’s information (from the beginningNew Usertag to the ending New User tag) and edit each of the subsequent users information based on each user’s profile.
- Once you enter the new user values and save the file as an XML, import the new user XML file in theAccess Control Importspage.
- In theSelect Filesoption, find the XML for the user you want to create.
- Populate theFile Namefield, making sure that the file type is XML (*.xml).
- Your XML template will appear in theImport New User Select Filesdialog.
- When the correct import template appears in the import dialog, selectImport.
Save the TXT template to XML format
- Once your TXT template is correct for the user(s) you want to import, save the template to an XML file.
- Right-click the TXT document and selectFile, thenSave As.
- Make sure the drive and path point to the correct location where you want to save the XML template.
- Name the file with an .XML extension.
- In theSave as Typedropdown selectAll Files(*.*).
