F4868-001-02 e-file error
Error
Form 4868 can only be filed after the 'TaxPeriodEndDate' in the IRS Submission Manifest and on or before the due date to which the extension applies, unless Line 8 checkbox or Line 9 checkbox is checked.
Cause
The extension can't be filed after the original due date unless line 8 or 9 is checked on Form 4868.
Solution
If line 8 or 9 on Form 4868 applies and aren't checked, do the following:
- Go toOrganizer, thenPayments and Extensions.
- OpenExtensions.
- For line 8, mark theTaxpayer is out of the country and is a U.S. Citizen or residentcheckbox.
- For line 9, mark theTaxpayer filed Form 1040NR and didn't receive wages subject to US income tax withholdingcheckbox.
- Do a full recompute, recreate, and retransmit the return.
