Learn how to attach Form 8283 when Schedule A, Line 12 noncash contributions exceed $500 to resolve e-file errors.
Schedule A: If Schedule A, Line 12 'Other than by Cash or Check' amount is greater than $500, then Form 8283 must be attached to Line 12. (Rule Number: SA-F1040-002)

Cause

This diagnostic occurs when there is an amount greater than $500 on Schedule A, line 12, and Form 8283 is not completed.

Solution 1: Schedule A, line 12

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Itemized Deductions
    .
  2. Go to
    Contributions
    Contributions – CY and Carryovers
    .
  3. Go to the
    CURRENT-YEAR NONCASH CONTRIBUTIONS WHICH TOTAL LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO $500
     section.
  4. In this section, remove the information because it totals over $500.
  5. Go to the
    Section A Donated Property
     or
    Section B Donated Property
     folder and add the information.
  6. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.

Solution 2: From a K-1

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Income
    .
  2. Go to
    Schedule K-1
    (name of K-1)
    Schedule K-1 Information
    .
  3. Go to the
    Deductions
     tab.
  4. Select
    Noncash contributions $500 - $5000
     or
    Noncash contributions over $5000
     and enter the information.
  5. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
