Error: The field ‘FEINOrSSN’ with value ‘[SSN]’, data format is not correct

This validation error occurs on Ohio IT1040 when the FEINOrSSN field contains a hyphenated format instead of 9 consecutive digits.

Validation failed on [FILE_ID]: Form: FormIT1040[1][@documentId='FormIT1040] FormDetail[1]/BusinessIncomeSchedule[1]/BusinessSource[1]/FEINOrSSN[1] Requirement: Type for Electronic Filing Identification No. 9 digits Error: The field 'FEINOrSSN' with value '[SSN]', data format is not correct. Solution 1: Clear business income for blank activities

This error often occurs when the Business Income checkbox is checked for an activity with no amounts entered.
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    Ohio
    Apportionment and Business Credits
    .
  2. Select the income type: Partnership Income, Rent and Royalties, or another activity.
  3. Find the activity showing the error.
  4. Clear the
    Business Income
    checkbox if the activity is blank.
  5. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.

Solution 2: Remove hyphens from federal EIN in K-1 entries

If the error persists, the Federal EIN may contain hyphens.
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Income
    Schedule K-1
    [Name]
    State Information
    Ohio PY/NR
    Apportionment Schedule
    .
  2. Go to the
    Activity
    section and find the
    Federal EIN
    field.
  3. Remove hyphens from the
    Federal EIN
    for each entity.
  4. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
