E-file diagnostic: Federal K-1 E-file: There are less than 2 partners
Federal K-1 E-file: There are less than 2 partners included in federal e-file. Based on the 2022 IRS schema, the IRS has removed the 2-partner minimum requirement if filing an Amended 1-65 return and filing Form 8082 with BBA AAR checked.
This happens when there aren’t at least two partners in the partnership, unless each of the following are true: (1) Form 1065, AmendedReturnID is checked and (2) Form 8082, DRAAARIND is checked.
Solution
As per the IRS E-File requirements, 1065s must have at least 2 partners to e-file. If at least 2 partners cannot be added, then the Federal Return will need to be paper filed. Please contact the IRS for more information.
