This validation error occurs when the Employer Identification Number field is empty or doesn't contain exactly 9 digits.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    General Information
    Basic Return Information
    Entity Information
     tab.
  2. In the
    EIN
     field, enter the 9-digit Employer Identification Number in the format ##-#######.
  3. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
note
The IRS requires an EIN to e-file. If no EIN is available, you'll need to paper file the return.
