000054 e-file error
000054: FEIN cannot contain special characters or a value of nine of the same digit. Maximum detail items allowed for Taxes and License entries is limited to 20
As of 2023, IRS no longer allows FOREIGNUS to be e-filed.
Solution
Navigate to the following sections and perform the specified actions:
In Organizer, go to:
- . Ensure each partner has a valid number entered. The number cannot consist of all 9s, 0s, or special characters. For EIN numbers, enter nine characters without any gaps or spaces.
- . Enter a valid number that cannot be all 9s, 0s, or "FOREIGNUS".
- If a partner does not have an EIN, select the drill down of that partner's EIN | SSN/EIN options and selectApplied for.
- If the partner is a foreign partner and does not have a SSN or TIN, enter 000-00-0000 if the foreign partner is an individual, or 00-0000000 if the partner is an entity.
- After making these updates, perform a full recompute and recreate the FL E-file.
note
Even if the rejection is specific to Florida, it is necessary to fix the issue at the Organizer level for all partners' information to ensure compliance and accuracy in filing. After making these updates, perform a full recompute and recreate the FL e-file.
