Error: Form 510 Line 13 must equal sum of Line 9 and Line 12

You get this error when the total nonresident tax on Maryland Form 510, Line 13 doesn’t equal the sum of Line 9 and Line 12. This typically occurs when Lines 9 and 11 contain "NONE" text entries instead of numeric values or blank fields.

Form 510: Line 13 Total nonresident tax - must equal the sum of line 9 and line 12.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Tax Forms
    States
    Maryland
    MD 510
    Page 2
    .
  2. Remove the "NONE" entry on
    Line 9
     using a space bar override.
  3. Remove the "NONE" entry on
    Line 11
     using a space bar override.
  4. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
