Form PTE-A12105 e-file error

You get this error when you mark the nonresident checkbox for an owner type that Montana Form PTE-A doesn't allow.

Error message

FormPTE-A12105: You cannot check the nonresident checkbox if the owner type is C Corporation, Foreign C Corporation, S Corporation, Partnership, Publicly Traded, or Tax Exempt.

Solution

  1. Find partners with these owner types and the
    Nonresident
     checkbox marked: C Corporation, Foreign C Corporation, S Corporation, Partnership, Publicly Traded, or Tax Exempt.
  2. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    Montana
    Shareholder Information
    [NAME]
    .
  3. Update the
    PTE Shareholder Entity Type
     to the correct value or clear the
    Nonresident
     checkbox.
  4. If you use an Aggregation File, remove the nonresident identifier for the affected partners.
  5. Reattach the file at
    Organizer
    States
    Montana
    E-file
    Attachments
    K-1 Aggregation/Summary
    .
  6. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
