R1138 e-file error

This error occurs when you e-file Form IT-204 without the required K-1s in XML format. It can also occur when the number of partners in the XML doesn’t match Item B2 on Form IT-204.

Error message

NY IT-204 E-File: Per New York reject code R1138. Total number of IPs and CPs included in NY XML must be greater than or equal to Form IT-204 Item B2 (number of resident partners) if Item B1 is NO. NOTE: New York K-1s (IT-204-IP and IT-204-CP) can NOT be PDF attached, MUST be included in XML format.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    New York
    E-file
    Attachments
    K-1 Aggregation
    Summary
    .
  2. In the
    Attach K-1 Aggregation XML File
     section, clear the
    Suppress system generated Form IT-204-IP
     checkbox.
  3. Clear the
    Suppress system generated Form IT-204-CP
     checkbox if present.
  4. Perform a full recompute and recreate the e-file.
