Error: The field 'CityNm' with value '[ENTERED_VALUE]', data format is not correct

This e-file validation error occurs on Form 5472 when the CityNm field contains commas, numbers, or special characters that violate IRS pattern constraints.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Foreign Information
    25% Foreign Owned Corporation
    [NAME]
    25% Foreign Shareholder
    Indirect 25% Foreign Shareholder and/or Mandatory Entry - Related Party
    Address
    .
  2. Remove commas, numbers, and any special characters from the
    City
     name field.
  3. Do a full recompute and recreate the e-file.

This error can also appear for Direct 25% Foreign Shareholder addresses. If so, go to
