F7004-003-03 e-file error

This error occurs when filing Form 7004 extension if the tax period date doesn't meet IRS validation requirements for extension filing timing.

Error message

Rule Number: F7004-003 The application for extension can only be filed after the Tax Period End Date and on or before the due date of the return to which the extension applies as specified in the Form 7004 Date Charts in Publication 4164

Solution

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Payments and Extension
    Automatic Extensions
    7004 Basic Data
    .
  2. Select the
    E-file Diagnostic Screen
    .
  3. In the
    Extension Due Date
     section, mark the
    Disable reject diagnostic F7004-003
     checkbox.
    note
    If the box is checked erroneously, the IRS will reject your extension application.
  4. Do a full recompute, generate the
    Extension Validation File
    , and recreate the federal extension e-file.
