AL20C-001a e-file error

This error occurs when the tax period dates for the Alabama return don't match the filing status or are outside the acceptable range.

Error message

AL20C-001a: If fiscal year checkbox is populated and the 52/53 week filer checkbox is NOT populated, then Tax Period Begin Date should be greater than or equal to 02/01/20XX and less than or equal to 12/31/20XX.

Solution 1: If the taxpayer is a Calendar Year filer

  1. Go to
    Tax Forms
    States
    Alabama
    Alabama Privilege Tax
    CPT - Privilege Tax Return
    CPT, Page 1
    .
  2. If line 1a is marked with an X, fiscal year beginning and ending dates must be removed from the organizer.
    1. Go to
      Organizer
      General Information
      Basic Return Information
      Entity Information tab
      Dates Section
      .
    2. Remove the dates from
      Fiscal Year Beginning
      and
      Fiscal Year Ending
      .
      note
      Any values here cause the system to treat the return as a fiscal year return.
  3. Do a full recompute and recreate the e-file.

Solution 2: If the taxpayer is a Fiscal Year filer

  1. Go to
    Tax Forms
    States
    Alabama
    Alabama Privilege Tax
    CPT - Privilege Tax Return
    CPT, Page 1
    .
  2. If line 1b is marked with an X, then the fiscal year dates must fall within the required range.
    1. Go to
      Organizer
      General Information
      Basic Return Information
      Entity Information tab
      Dates Section
      .
    2. Make sure the
      Fiscal Year Beginning
      date is greater than or equal to 02/01/20XX where XX is the current tax year being filed.
    3. Make sure the
      Fiscal Year Ending
      date is less than or equal to 12/31/20XX where XX is the current tax year being filed.
  3. Do a full recompute and recreate the e-file.
