Tax Period Beginning Date default is 01/01/XXXX unless the Fiscal Tax Year and/or the 52/53-week indicator box is checked. If return is a short-year return, short-year information is be entered at Organizer/States/Alabama/Privilege Tax/Tax Computation/Short-year Returns. Any short-year return that has 12/31/XX as the year-end must be paper-filed per state guidance.
This happens when the default Tax Period Beginning Date is set to 01/01/

unless the Fiscal Tax Year and/or the 52/53-week indicator field is checked. In cases where the return is for a short year, the specific short year information must be entered under the Alabama Privilege Tax section. Furthermore, any short-year return that has a year-end of 12/31/XX must be paper-filed in accordance with state guidance.
Solution
If the client wants the CPT determination dates to reflect a full calendar year 01/01/

, the federal filing dates must be removed.
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    , select
    General Information
    , and
    Basic Return Information
    .
  2. In the
    Entity Information
    tab, go to the
    Dates
    section and remove the Fiscal Year Beginning and Ending dates.

If the client doesn't want to remove the federal dates, the return must be paper filed.
