Error: Field 'CombinedTotals' is unexpected

This happens when a label is missing while you're trying to file a consolidated return.

Error Message

Error: Field 'CombinedTotals' is unexpected.

Solution

Schedule R-7 needs to have at least 2 electing members. Use the following steps in at least 2 members (non-parent entities):
  1. Navigate to
    Organizer
    States
    California
    Combined Return Information
    Combined Information
    .
  2. Go to the
    Schedule R-7 Information
     section and mark at least 1 of the following checkboxes:
    1. Electing member is incorporated, organized, qualified, or registered to do business in California
    2. Electing member has property, payroll, or sales in California
  3. Go to the
    Schedule R-7 Information
     section of the parent entity.
  4. Mark the
    Member is the Key Corporation
     checkbox.
  5. Make sure no members are
    Excluded
     by making sure you clear the
    Check to exclude this member from Part I, Section A
     checkbox.
  6. Do a full recompute for the member return, then a full recompute for the TopCon, then recreate the e-file.
note
California requires at least 2 members to be included in the combined report. Top consolidation always need a Parent, Subsidiary, and Elimination when filing.
