Error: Iowa Schedule H2 and H3 required for combined filing status

This e-file diagnostic appears when Iowa combined filing status requires incomplete Schedule H2 and H3 information.

Error message

For filing status of Separate IA/Consol Fed or Consol IA/Consol Fed, Sch.: H2 & 3 are required. Go to Organizer/States/Iowa/Combined Return Information to enter the information.

Solution

If the return should file as Separate IA/Separate Fed, change the Iowa filing method. Otherwise, complete Schedule H2 and Schedule H3.
  1. To change the filing method, go to
    Organizer
    States
    Common State
    General Information
    Basic Return Information
    Filing Status tab
    .
    In the Iowa row, change Column C (
    State Filing Method
    ) to
    Separate IA/Separate Fed
    .
  2. To complete the combined return information, go to
    Organizer
    States
    Iowa
    Combined Return Information
    Schedule H2
    .
    Enter the parent entity information under
    Parent Information
    , then select
    Add new Subsidiary Information
     to add each subsidiary.
  3. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    Iowa
    Combined Return Information
    Schedule H3
     and complete the required information.
  4. Perform a full recompute and recreate the e-file.
note
Due to the formatting of Schedule H2, enter a parent and at least 1 subsidiary to clear the diagnostic.
