Header-00040-011 e-file error

This error occurs when e-filing a Maryland 1120 return because the
Tax Year Ending Date
 isn't set to the last day of the month.

Error message

Header-00040-011: Tax Year Ending Date - day (DD) must be last day of the month in which the tax year ends.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    General Information
    Basic Return Information
    Entity Information
    Dates
    .
  2. Set the
    Fiscal Year Ending
     date to the last day of the month.
  3. Maryland's e-file system only accepts dates in this format, even if it doesn't match the Federal return.
  4. If you can't change the date, paper file the return instead.
note
Maryland only accepts e-filed returns for tax years that begin on the 1st day of a month and end on the last day of a month. Returns that don't meet these requirements must be paper filed.
