Error: The field “ConfirmationNumber” data is missing or the format is not correct

This error occurs when the Ohio RITA Form 27 ConfirmationNumber field contains an invalid value. The Confirmation Number must follow a specific 10-character format: 6 lowercase alphanumeric characters followed by the last 4 digits of the EIN.

Error message

Validation failed on [FILE_ID]: Form: Form27[1] ConfirmationNumber[1] Requirement: Confirmation Number is a field used to Map Payment to forms when Tax Payer Submits Form without payments. The first 6 characters is alphanumeric and last 4 characters is the last 4 digits of the EIN (xsd:pattern value=[0-9a-z]{6}[0-9]{4}) Error: The field 'ConfirmationNumber' with value '0', data is missing. Element Name: ConfirmationNumber XPath: /ReturnState[1]/ReturnDataState[1]/Form27[1]/ConfirmationNumber[1] XML Fragment: 0 Field Key: 164,179,11,0,0,0,0,0,0 Error Code: [CODE] Error Reason: '0' violates pattern constraint of '[0-9a-z]{6}[0-9]{4}'. The element '{http://www.irs.gov/efile}ConfirmationNumber' with value '0' failed to parse.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Cities
    Ohio RITA Cities, OH
    General Information
    General Information tab
    Section "General Information"
    and enter the Confirmation Number.
  2. The Confirmation Number must contain 6 lowercase alphanumeric characters followed by the last 4 digits of the EIN.
  3. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.

If you don't have a Confirmation Number, contact Ohio for guidance or paper file the return.
