Error: Element name AdditionalTax attribute 'referenceDocumentID' is missing
This validation error occurs when e-filing a Virginia Form 500 return with PDF attachments that aren't one of the 3 forms Virginia accepts.

Solution
Virginia accepts only the following 3 forms as PDF attachments for e-filing:
- Sch500ADJ
- Form500
- Sch500CR
To resolve this error:
- Go to .
- Review the current PDF attachments.
- Delete any PDF attachments that aren't one of the 3 accepted forms (Sch500ADJ, Form500, or Sch500CR).
- If you still need to attach a PDF to Virginia, use one of the 3 accepted form names for your attachment:
- Go to .
- SelectAttach PDF.
- Select your Virginia attachment and selectEdit.
- In theAttachment Descriptionsection, select a pre-defined description such as "Form500 Federal Return Attachment."
- In theMANDATORYsection, change the selection toUser defined form/schedule name and element/line numberfor Form500.
- Perform a full recompute and recreate the Virginia e-file.
