80004005 e-file error
Scenario
There may be times where a return is rejected with error code 80004005.
Cause
This is a generic error code assigned to several types of rejections. There are many reasons a return could get this e-filing error.
Solution
Review the rest of the e-file error. Most times there is an
Element Name:
that will tell you what is causing the error. There is also an
Error Reason:
that will tell you what is wrong with that element. If the Error Reason:
includes a message about '0' violations, it could be that a form is suppressed, or NONE
is being used as an override. Additionally, there is sometimes an
Expecting:
