Solution
Each year the IRS shuts down in December to prepare for the upcoming filing season and re-opens in January.
All returns submitted during the IRS shutdown will be received by Thomson Reuters and will have an electronic postmark at the time of receipt. These returns won't be submitted to the IRS and state agencies until the IRS re-opens in January.
note
This annual shutdown doesn't extend the IRS 10-day transmission perfection period.
