Capital gain template import
- Get theXXXX_YYYY_Capital_Gain_Template.xlsmfile where XXXX is the tax application). Go to the main product page, selectData imports and exportsand download the template in the file download table. This is your starting point for data import.Required fields for import:
- TR_Setup tab
- Firm ID
- Account ID
- Year
- Tax Type
- Locator
- TR_XXXX_CapGain_Detail tab(XXXX = 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120)
- Asset Description
- TR_XXXX_CapGain_Group_Detail tab(XXXX = 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120)
- Asset Description (only required if group detail is imported.)
- TR_XXXX_CapGain_Group_Detail2 tab, if available (XXXX = 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120)
- Asset Description (only required if group detail is imported.)
noteRefer to theTR_XXXX_CapGain_Map tabin the template file for details on the column heading name to use for import. - If macros are enabled, selecting a field with a fixed value will trigger a pop-up dialog. Choose the correct value from the description provided, and it will automatically populate the field. If you prefer not to use macros, refer to theTR_XXXX_XXXX_Stringstab for the necessary values.noteEnter accurate values for the best results.
Template tabs
- Header Information: includes firm ID, account ID, locator number, year, and tax type. These fields are fixed.
- Activity Number: You must enter an activity number that matches the tax return’s activity number for a successful import. If you are unsure, export the file first to get the correct details.
- Data Entry: Enter your data here. The first and second rows are fixed.
- Column Order: The first column must stay as the first column. You can move or delete the remaining columns as needed.
- Multiple Rows: Subsequent rows will import into a single locator (locator number entered on the TR_Setup tab). Each row will consist of a separate asset to be imported into the program.
- Data Entry: Enter your data here. The first and second rows are fixed.
- Multiple Rows: You can import multiple rows of data.
Checking Field Details
- Field Info: To see which column heading transfers to which field, right-click on the field in the Organizer screen, selectField Info, and check the details.
Navigation for fields in the capital gains template
- For 1040: Organizer > Gains and Losses > Capital Gains and Losses > Add New
- For 1041: Organizer > Gains and Losses > Stocks, Bonds, etc. > Add New
- For 1065: Organizer > Gains and Losses > Capital Gains and Losses > Gains Distributions, Stocks, and Bonds > Add New
- For 1120: Organizer > Gains and Losses > Capital Gains and Losses > Add New
