Troubleshoot template imports and exports
Imports
- locator found - begin processing
- queued for import
- queuing for import batch jobs
- locator busy, try again- this means someone has the return open while the import is queued.
- Import Failed, Duplicate Important Field Values On XYZ Sheet- "XYZ Sheet" is the name of the template type causing the issue in the import file. There is more than one identical name in the required column on theDetailtab and at least another instance on theGrouporGroup2tabs. Since there's at least two identically named on theDetailtab, the program doesn't know how to match them on theGroup/Group2tab. Give unique names on theDetailtab, or remove the data on theGroup/Group2tabs if unique names on theDetailtab aren't possible.
- invalid or missing required fields- make sure all required fields have data and there are no special characters. Review Best Practices for a list of special characters.
- invalid setup properties- TheSetuptab has invalid data.
- parsing failed- Required data is missing on theSetuptab.
- import complete with errors- This is likely because data type did not match field or data length was longer than field length.
- no locators parsed- The import file didn't have locators.
- Import failure with a reason for the failure- This can happen when the wrong locator is in the import file, there's missing required values, etc.
- Wrong locator means there is a mismatch between the template and the batch system.
- The locator number, firm, and account number must be in upper case if they contain alpha characters.
- The status details will mentionDuplicate Important Field Values. This can affect the broker statement, capital gains, K1, Schedules C & E, or PFIC templates. If there is a duplicate description on theDetailtab and there is data on theGrouptab, this will occur.
- For example, if theDetailtab has the same Name and Ownership combination in 2 or more rows, the system won't know what row to use to match the information in theGrouptab. This will cause it to fail. You can fix this by changing either the Name or the Ownership for one of the rows.Rows 4 and 5 will cause an error. Change A4, A5, B4, or B5 to fix it.

- Required Data on Sch_K_1_Group Detail Sheet Not Defined in Sch_K_1 Sheet. This occurs on the Schedule K-1 templates. Something doesn't match between theGroupandDetailsheets. For example, the ownership, activity, activity number, K-1 Name, or Federal EIN on theGrouptab doesn't have a corresponding identical match on theDetailtab. Make sure your activities are sorted on theActivity Numbercolumn on both tabs. Sorting other columns can often lead to entering incorrect information, and if you have hundreds of K-1s in your template, it can take hours to find the mismatch.
- Import processes, but you cannot find the assets. This is most likely in an 1120 top consolidated return. Import into a lower level return that feeds into the top consol. Asset detail is meant to be entered at the parent or subsidiary level.
