Multi-factor authentication set up (MFA)

By default, MFA is optional, and individual users can choose to enable it for their accounts. However, RS administrators can require all staff members to use MFA for logging in by changing a specific setting.
We strongly recommend using MFA to ensure the highest level of security for your firm and client data. To use MFA, you need a mobile device with the Thomson Reuters Authenticator application installed. Although MFA is optional by default, firms can choose to make it mandatory. Only administrators have the rights to change this setting.
  1. Select
    Admin
    , then
    Firm Config
    .
  2. Select
    Security Options
    .
  3. In the Multi-factor Authentication section, select
    Enable multi-factor authentication
    , then either:
    1. User required
      - If MFA is required, you will get a message asking you to set up MFA at your next login. After you've set it up you will need to use your mobile device with the Thomson Reuters Authentication application to log in to the RS system.
    2. User optional
      - if MFA is optional, you can opt in to using the Thomson Reuters application to add a layer of security for your login but it's not required.
