Print status errors
The most frequent cause of print errors is related to PDF attachments in electronic files.
Troubleshoot errors
- For federal returns, in Organizer, select . SelectAttach PDF.
- For state returns, in Organizer, select . SelectAttach PDF.
- You need to remove any attachment file that shows a statusFile Missingin the Date Modified column and has aFile Sizeof0to correct the print error.

In Print Preview, if the
e-File Attachments
option is selected, then when you see a file missing in the Date Modified
column you won't be able to delete or print the return.
The PDF file names need to be 23 characters or less and should contain letters and numbers only.
Correct PDF file name
- Delete the attached PDF file.
- Rename the PDF file with the correct name.
- Reattach the renamed PDF file.
Correct file missing error
- In Organizer, select select . SelectAttach PDF.
- Select the file and thenEdit.
- Select the file, thenOpen.
- Either reattach the correct PDF or attach a dummy PDF to later delete it.
- Once you've selected the PDF, selectOK. The Date Modified column will be updated for that PDF.
