About the tax return import/export file set

The tax return import export file set is an Excel workbook listing all fields enabled for import and export. It includes supplementary information such as navigation paths, storage values, data types, and lengths.
File sets (available in the downloads table on the main product page) are zipped with the following name structure:
  • TYTY:
    Tax year (e.g., 2023)
  • AAAA:
    Tax application type (1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 990, 706, 709, or 5550)
  • MM-DD-YYYY:
    Release date
TYTY-AAAA-tax-return-import-export-MM-DD-YYYY.zip

The unique identifier for a field (EORG, EOrgXref, Xref, or XrefName).

Length
The maximum length allowed (in characters) for the value in a field.

Data Type
The type of data the field can contain (e.g., DOLLAR or ALPHANU).
K
Precision
The number of digits allowed to the right of the decimal point for FRACTION data.
L
Required
YES means this field is on the Required_Fields tab.
M
Juris
Indicates if a field is federal (F) or state (S).

Description
Long text describing the tax concept of a field.

    Navigation paths to find screens containing the fields.
