Prepare ProSeries returns for conversion to GoSystem Tax
For ProSeries returns, you need to copy the data files from the local ProSeries directory to a temporary folder.
important
- Because the initial conversion is current‑year to current‑year, one locator is required for that step, with a second locator needed to roll the results forward into the subsequent year. Take care not to convert duplicate clients or test returns.
- Before you export your data, remove all client passwords. If you skip this step the data won’t be converted.
- Create a folder on your computer or server to save the return data to. This folder needs to be somewhere you can easily access.
- Navigate toX:\ProWIN23\23Datawhere X is the drive ProSeries is installed.
- Select all files in the 21Data folder and copy/paste them into the folder you created in Step 1.
- Zip the folder containing the return data and keep the file somewhere you can easily access.
- Your files should be similar to the following image that shows the various files in the directory on your machine.
- When you zip up folders, do not assign a password to the ZIP file or encrypt the ZIP file. Secure Data Exchange automatically encrypts all data. Password-protected ZIP files will not be accepted.
