Prepare ProSystem fx returns for conversion to GoSystem Tax

In preparing your ProSystem fx data to convert, you'll export data, remove client passwords, and prepare client IDs for a smooth conversion process.
For ProSystem fx returns, you need to copy the data files from the local ProSystem fx directory to a temporary folder.
important
  • Because the initial conversion is current‑year to current‑year, 1 locator is required for that step, with a 2nd locator needed to roll the results forward into the subsequent year. Take care not to convert duplicate clients or test returns.
  • Before you export your data, remove all client passwords. If you skip this step, the data won’t be converted.
  1. Create a folder on your computer or server to save the return data to. This folder needs to be somewhere you can easily access it.
  2. Go to
    X:\WFX32\CLIENT
where X is the drive ProSystem fx is installed.
  3. For each entity, copy and paste the
    data
folder into the folder you created in Step 1. Then go to the location of the files you want to convert.
  4. The default file location is
    X:\wfx32\client\YY
    *. In this path,
    X
is the drive where ProSystem fx is installed,
    YY
is the year being converted, and
    *
    is the return type:
    • I
      = 1040
    • F
      = 1041
    • P
      = 1065
    • C
      = 1120
    • S
      = 1120S
    • X
      = 990
  5. Zip up the folders to which you backed up your firm's client data and note the location of the ZIP file. When you zip up folders, don’t assign a password to the ZIP file or encrypt the ZIP file. Secure Data Exchange automatically encrypts all data. Password-protected ZIP files won’t be accepted. For information about how to ZIP files and folders, refer to the Microsoft Windows help.
