Create a new Single Audit engagement
You can enable Single Audit on an existing Guided Assurance engagement or create a new Single Audit engagement. Do the following to create a new Single Audit engagement:
- Sign in to Engagement Manager.
- SelectAddthenAdd engagement.
- Enter a client name or number in a filter box to search for a client, or choose a client from the list.
- SelectNext.
- SelectGuided Assuranceas an external integration source from the dropdown.
- Choose between New, Template, or Existing for your Engagement Source, then selectNext.
- Enter your engagement and tax information then selectNext.
- Choose your account structure and reporting periods then selectNext.
- Choose an account grouping to import or selectNextif you don't want to import an account grouping.
- Enter any dates and indexing details needed for your engagement then selectDone.
- Go to theWorkpaperstab and selectclick here to beginon the Guided Assurance setup banner.
- Enter your Checkpoint username and email to sign in, if prompted.
- ChooseSet up the engagementthen selectContinue.
- Select the Source then selectAuditorSingle Audit Onlyas the Engagement Type.
- Select a practice aid title from theIndustrydropdown.noteIf you choseAuditas the Engagement type, "Audits of Local Governments," "Audits of Nonprofit Organizations," "Audits of School Districts," and "HUD Audits" are the only titles that support Single Audit.
- If you selectedAuditand a supporting title in the previous steps, select the checkbox to enableSingle Audit.
- SelectNext.
- If necessary, complete any setup questions and selectNext.
- Complete the Single Audit Setup section then selectDone.
Once you've set up the Single Audit, Engagement Manager creates a new Single Audit folder in the Workpapers tab that'll have the required Single Audit workpapers based on your setup. This is where you can enter federal awards and determine whether a Single Audit is required.
