Create an Instructor Led Training (ILT) Classroom course
An Instructor Led Training (ILT) or classroom course is an in-person course. You can create a course on this learning platform so your users can see the agenda and location, enroll in sessions, and access training material. Adding classroom courses also lets the administrator to monitor course attendance and manage the waitlist.
Create a classroom course
- Sign in as an Administrator and select the gear
to open the Admin menu. - SelectCourse Management.
- Select Add
. - SelectNew Course.
- Add your information:
- Course code: This is optional but highly recommended. This will help you when you're searching for courses and generating reports. We recommend that you use your firm's initials and a numeric code, like ABC100.
- Course type: ChooseClassroom Course. You can't change the course type after creating the course.
- Course name: Enter a unique course name.
- Description: Enter a description that will help users understand what they'll learn in this course.
- Category Destination: Select the location for your course within the platform.
- SelectCreate and Editto save.
Add course sessions
Now that you've created your Classroom course, you'll want to add at least 1 session.
- From within the course, selectSessions and Enrollments.
- SelectNew Session.
- If there will be more than 1 session, enter a session number in theCodefield, like 1, 2, or 3.
- In theNamefield, either:
- Enter the course name if there will only be 1 session
- Enter a unique session name if there will be more than 1 session. This will help differentiate sessions from each other.
- Enter the classroom capacity in theMaximum enrollmentsfield. Don't forget to add one for your instructor. For example, if your classroom has 30 seats, enter 31.
- The rest of the fields on this screen are optional, so enter any additional information if necessary
- SelectSession Date(s).
- SelectADDand choose the date from the calendar. You can't enter dates in this field.
- Enter the session time in military time and include a break time, if any. Pay attention to the time zone and change, if necessary.
- Choose yourLocationandClassroom. If you don't see your locations and/or classroom, you'll need to add it to your Classroom Locations list.
- SelectCREATE SESSION DATE.
- If your session (not course) has multiple parts, selectMAKE A COPYto add the additional dates, times, and locations for the other parts of your session. Otherwise selectSAVE CHANGESto create your session.
Add course settings
Once you've created a Classroom course, you'll want to add course settings.
From within the course, select
Advanced Properties
. While it is best practice to review all settings for your course, the following settings are some we recommend for a classroom course.
- Self-unenrollment: SelectDetailsand clear theAllow self-unenrollment from the course even if the learner has completed itcheckbox. If you leave this marked and a user unenrolls from the course, they will lose access to any training materials and certificate and reporting information won't be accurate.
- Waiting List: SelectCatalog Optionsand review your waitlist settings.
- Course Enrollment Link: SelectSocial & Ratingand mark theEnable enrollment links for this coursecheckbox. This way, you can get a copy of the enrollment link to share with your users so they can self-enroll.
- NASBA fields: SelectAdditional Fieldsand complete in accordance with the NASBA standards.
- Accreditation info: If you need to give a certificate, selectAdditional Fieldsand complete theAccreditation info.
Save Changes
.Add training materials
You can add training materials like tests, surveys, presentations, and videos. To add training material, find your course in the Course Management list, select the course name, and select
Training Material
.Enroll users into sessions
Once you've created a course and session(s), an Administrator can enroll users into sessions from the Course Management section of the Admin menu
