Turning Off the Accrual Requirement

If the Accruals Module is enabled, by default accruals are required for all matters. However, the matter options for each matter contain an option to turn off accruals for the matter. Company System Administrators or Tracker coordinators can change the setting in the matter options, or bulk update the accruals setting across multiple matters. The accruals requirement can also be turned off in the matter group options.
At the firm level, you can turn off the requirement to manually submit unbilled amounts to that matter

Turning Off the Accrual Requirement for Individual Firms

Rather than turning off accruals for a matter, you can instead turn off the requirement that some or all of the firms/vendors manually submit unbilled amounts to that matter (i.e. the unbilled amounts are generated from a budget).

Accruals and Matter Group Options

If you are using matter groups, you can turn off accruals in the matter group options (just as with individual matters). However, if you want to generate accruals relating to a matter group, you have three options:
  • Option 1: Generate accruals at the matter group level and require unbilled amounts to be entered in each matter.
  • Option 2: Generate accruals at the matter group level, but firms are not required to manually enter unbilled amounts in each matter.
  • Option 3: Generate accruals (and departmental budgets) in each matter (in other words, not at the matter group level.)
