Working with Related Files
Working with Related Files
You can attach a related file to any matter document in Tracker. These related files are also referred to as secondary documents, and might include:
- Amendments to an original contract
- Original version of a scanned .pdf contract file
- Correspondence relating to a Service of Process (SOP)
The document must be saved before you can attach a related document.
Open the Document
To Open a Matter-Level Document
- SelectMatters>Matter listin the left navigation.
- Locate the matter in the list and click to open it.
- Click theDocumentstab.
- Double-click the relevant document or right-click and selectView Detailsto open the Document Details Panel.
To Open a Document from the Library
- ClickLibraryin the left navigation.
- In theDocumentstab, double-click the document you want to work with, or right-click and selectView Detailsto open the Document Details Panel.
Attach a related file to a document
- ClickActionsand selectSave Related Filefrom the drop-down list.
- In the Save Related File window, fill out required fields and optional fields as needed, including the file to attach.
- In the File Attachments section, select a button to indicate the file location and click Browse.
- Navigate to the file you want to attach and select it.
- ClickSave.
Download a related file
- Double-click the document that has the related file you want to download.
- On the toolbar, clickDownload.
- Follow your browser's instructions to save or open the file.
Edit a related file
Required role | Matter Editor or Matter Administrator for the matter
- Double-click the document that has the related file you want to edit.
- On the Document Profile toolbar, clickEditand make your changes.
- To edit the attachment, download it, make your changes outside of Tracker, and then re-upload the revised attachment.
- ClickSave & Close.
note
To edit or remove an attachment, Allow File/URL to be Replaced in the document header must be set to Yes.
Delete a related file
Required role | Matter Editor or Matter Administrator who saved the related file
- In theAddenda/Related Filessection of the details panel, click the linked name of the related document that you want to delete.
- ClickActionsand selectDeletefrom the drop-down list.
