Restrict or deactivate a firm

Firms can have a status of
Active
,
Restricted
or
Inactive
. Each status has a different level of access to your company's matters. Once a firm is added to your database, you can't delete that firm, but you can make it inactive. This prevents the firm's users from accessing your company's database or assigning new work to the firm or its users.
  • Restricted Status: If a firm is currently working on matters for your company, but you don’t want the firm to be added to any new matters, you can set the firm's status as Restricted. This is a helpful tool for phasing firms out and consolidating firms. When you designate a firm as Restricted, firm users remain able to sign in and work on existing matters; however, company users can't add the restricted firm to any new matters. The firm won’t be notified that its status has been changed.
  • Inactive Status: When you make a firm inactive, it is essentially the same as deleting or removing it from your panel. Making a firm inactive automatically blocks all access by the firm's users to your system. For example, it removes all the firm's users from the participants list on all matters, so the users can no longer view or access the matters. Also, even firm administrators will no longer have access to your company's system, including historic invoices.
note
Legal Tracker doesn’t automatically notify firms if they are inactive. Contact the firm to let them know why they can no longer access your matters.
Only Company System Administrators can change a firm's status. To change a firm's status, follow these steps.
