Defining Custom Contract Types

You can define custom contract types that help you search for and export contracts. The types you set up will appear in the Contract Types drop-down list.

Add a Value to the drop-down List

To add a value to the Contract Type drop-down list, do the following:
  1. Select
    Settings
    in the left navigation.
  2. In the
    Features Setup
    section click
    Contract Management
    .
  3. Click
    Contract Types
    .
  4. The screen will show the existing values in the drop-down list. On the top toolbar, click
    New value
    .
  5. In the
    Value
    box, enter the new contract type.
  6. On the toolbar, select
    Save & close
    .

Adding Multiple Values to a drop-down List

  1. Select
    Settings
    in the left navigation.
  2. In the
    Features Setup
    section click
    Contract Management
    .
  3. Click
    Contract Types
    .
  4. The screen will show the existing values in the drop-down list. Click
    New multiple values
    .
  5. In the
    Values
    box, enter the values you want to add. Make sure you put only one value per line. For example, the following is correct:Employment agreementLicense agreementNon-disclosure AgreementBut the following is not correct:Employment agreement ,License agreement, Non-disclosure Agreement
  6. On the toolbar, select
    Save & close
    .

Edit a Value in the drop-down List

To edit an existing value, do the following:
  1. Select
    Settings
    in the left navigation.
  2. In the
    Features Setup
    section click
    Contract Management
    .
  3. Click
    Contract Types
    .
  4. The screen will show the existing values in the drop-down menu. Click the value that you want to edit.
  5. Type the new name in the
    Value
    box.
  6. On the toolbar, select
    Save & close
    .

Editing a contract type value does not update existing matters. If you edit a value in the contract type drop-down menu, it does not automatically change the value in the matters that have already been created. To change the value in the matters that have already been created, go into the matter and edit the selection after the drop-down menu has been modified.

Delete a Value in a drop-down List

  1. Select
    Settings
    in the left navigation.
  2. In the
    Features Setup
    section click
    Contract Management
    .
  3. Click
    Contract Types
    .
  4. The screen will show the existing values in the drop-down menu. Click the value that you want to delete.
  5. Click the
    Active
    check box to clear it, and then on the top toolbar, click
    Save & close
    .

Deactivating a contract type does not update existing matters. If you delete a value in the contract type drop-down menu, it will not automatically delete the value in the matters that have already been created. To change the value in the matters that have already been created, go into the matter and edit the selection once the drop-down menu has been modified.
