Create, update, or close multiple matters at once by uploading a single file, saving time over manual entry and enabling optional validation to catch errors before processing.
With the matter upload feature in Legal Tracker, you can create, update, or close multiple matters by uploading a single file. Legal Tracker will process the information and create new matter profiles, update existing profiles, or close existing matters.
Matter Upload
is on the
Matters
menu in Legal Tracker. If you don’t have it, the feature is not turned on for your company or you haven’t been given access to it. For help, contact your Legal Tracker Coordinator.
note
Firm access for internal and external matters is available as a Matter Upload Create option only. Matter Upload Update can't be used to change firm access for a matter.
Validate record errors
Before uploading your file, you can mark the
Validate Record Errors
checkbox to have Legal Tracker check each record for formatting and required field errors (for example, incorrect date formats or missing values such as Associated Matter ID) prior to processing.
When this option is selected:
If errors are found throughout the entire file, the upload is blocked and no records are processed.
If errors are found in only some records, the valid records are sent through for processing while the erroneous records are held back for correction.
Results are displayed in a Results table and each row shows:
A status indicator
The row number from the uploaded file
The Associated Matter ID and Matter Name
The Matter Type
A specific error message describing the issue
You can review the flagged rows, correct the source file, and re-upload it as needed.
note
If the
Validate Record Errors
checkbox is clear, the upload proceeds using the standard behavior without this additional validation step.
