Add a Document or Contract to a Matter
You can add documents or contracts to a matter, control which users can access the documents, and add addenda or other related documents.

Only the Matter Administrators and Matter Editors for the matter can submit a document or contract for a matter.
To submit a document or contract for a matter:
- SelectMatters > Matter Listin the left navigation.
- Open the matter you want to work with and select theDocumentstab.
- ClickAdd.
- Select the document type. Selections include:
- Document/Email
- Contract
- Service of Process
- On the panel that opens, complete the document or contract profile fields.
- If you want to specify which users can access the document, select an option forAccess Security. Options are:
- All matter participants
- Company and lead firm matter participants
- Company matter participants only
- Select one of the following to designate the file attachment:
- File-To attach an electronic copy of the file. ClickBrowseto attach the file.
- URL-To provide a link to a website where the file resides. Enter the URL in the associated field
- Network Address-To specify a corporate network path to a file. Enter the network path in the associated field.If you enter a network address (such as \\Corp3\Shared\Departments\Legal\AcmeDemoContractv5.doc), the network path is accessible only by other Tracker users on the same firm network. Company users will not be able to access the file.
- Location/Other-To describe the physical location of the document. Enter the physical location in the associated field.
- If you want to request that other matter participants review the document or contract, selectYesforReview Requestedthen enter a comment in theReview Requested Commentsfield. When a review is requested, the matter displays in the Action Items for all of the other matter participants.
- ClickSave.
Attach, View or Edit a Contract Addendum or Related Document
When you save a contract to a matter, you can also attach a contract addendum or related documents. Examples of addenda or related documents include:
- Amendments to the original contract.
- Copies of letters terminating a contract.
- A working copy of a contract that will be signed (for example, a Microsoft Word document).
The contract must be saved before you can attach an addendum or related document.
- Access the applicable matter.
- ClickDocuments.
- Double-click the contract name for the contract you want to attach an addendum or related document to.
- ClickActionsthen selectSave related file.
- Complete the required fields. Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk
. - ClickBrowseforFile Attachmentthen attach the addendum or related document. You can also enter the URL, network address or physical location of the document or contract.
- ClickSave.
View an Addendum or Related Document
Once an addendum or related document is attached, it is listed under
Addenda/Related Files (Secondary Documents)
on the contract profile. To view the addendum:- From the contract profile, click theFile Name/URLlink for the addendum or related document you want to view. The profile for the addendum or related document displays.
- Click the file name inFile Attachment, save the file to your computer then open it from where you saved it on your computer.
Edit an Addendum or Related Document
To edit an addendum or related document:
- From the contract profile, click theFile Name/URLlink for the addendum or related document you want to edit. The profile for the addendum or related document displays.
- ClickEdit.
- Make your changes to the addendum or related document profile.
- ClickSave & Close.
Delete an Addendum or Related Document
To delete an addendum or related document:
- From the contract profile, click theFile Name/URLlink for the addendum or related document you want to delete. The profile for the addendum or related document displays.
- ClickActionsthen selectDelete document. A message displays to confirm you want to delete the addendum or related document.
- Click OK.
- ClickClosewhen the confirmation message displays.
