The Role of Office System Administrators

Most firms select someone from the office's IT or billing department to be the Office System Administrator. Generally, it is not appropriate to select an administrative assistant or an attorney in your firm unless your firm is very small or you are a solo practitioner.
The user who is the Office System Administrator is shown in the footer of each Tracker page. The Office System Administrator is the support contact for firm users in the same office and is expected to receive and handle support calls from other office users. If the Office System Administrator is not able to assist the user, the Office System Administrator escalates the support call to the client's Tracker Coordinator.
The Office System Administrator must also be assigned the Firm Office Administrator system role.
The Backup Office System Administrator is identified only in the office profile page and is not shown in the footer of each Tracker page. Generally, the Backup Office System Administrator is someone who can provide assistance to the Office System Administrator if he or she is unavailable.

Office System Administrator Responsibilities

Office System Administrator responsibilities include:
  • Respond to support request from other firm users in the same office.
  • Contact the client's Tracker Coordinator if the Office System Administrator is unable to answer a support request.
  • Create new users for the office.
  • Change the selection of the Office System Administrator (or Backup Office System Administrator).
When selecting an Office System Administrator or Backup Office System Administrator, it is important to note that this selection is not specific to each client. The designation of Office System Administrator applies for all clients that work with your firm in Tracker.
