Removing Matter Participants

Matter administrators can remove participants from a matter. Users with delegates can change their delegates' matter access regardless, of matter role.
note
You cannot remove access for a user the company designated as a lead on the matter. Contact the company and request that the new lead user be asigned to the matter.
To remove a delegate's matter access, follow the same steps as to remove a direct matter participant.
note
When you change the matter access for one of your delegates in the matter, it automatically changes the matter access for all your delegates in that matter. For example, you have two delegates with Matter Administrator roles in your matters. You want to remove access for one of the delegates on a particular matter. If you remove access for one delegate, your other delegate will also be removed from that matter only.
Required role
| Only the Matter Administrators for a matter can remove participants from a matter.
To remove a direct matter participant's access to a matter:
  1. Select
    Matters > Matter list
    from the left navigation.
  2. Select the matter in the
    Matter Name
    column to open the matter.
  3. Select the
    Participants
    tab.
  4. In the first dropdown, select
    All Who Have Access
    .
  5. In the second dropdown, select
    Group by User
    , then select
    Change view
    .
    note
This is important because a delegate may have been granted access to a matter multiple times (for example, once as a direct matter participant and once as a delegate). To ensure the participant is fully removed from the matter, you must change every instance of the user's access to the matter.
  6. In the Matter Role column, select the matter role link for the participant whose access you want to change.
  7. On the new page that opens, use the dropdown next to
    Matter Role
    to select
    No Matter or Report Access
    .
  8. Click
    Save & close
    in the toolbar.
