US Automated Broker Interface (ABI)

ABI Query Importer/Bond File

The
ABI Query Importer/Bond File
 screen is used for querying ACE for importer/consignee names, addresses, and bond information as found on the Importer/Consignee File and Importer Bond File at CBP.
This can be particularly useful when filing Electronic Bonded Movement (QP/WP) transmissions to see if a carrier has provided valid bond information for submitting CF7512 documentation.
This screen can be opened by choosing
Query Importer/Bond
 from the
ABI
 menu.
To begin, complete the
Query Importer Number
 field. In the
Address Request Code
, select to receive either
1-All Info
 or
-Basic Info Only
. You can query by IRS number, CBP Assigned number, or Social Security Number.

Note: Users can query by IRS Numbers using the format of ** in the last two positions to return records for all suffixes within the base IRS number, including 00 and two spaces.
When the query results return, the CBP-provided information can be found by choosing an item from the grid and clicking the arrow on the far left.
Review the information for accuracy. For instance, if researching a carrier, ensure that the bond number used is the bond number associated with carrying bonded merchandise. Expanding the grid will show three sub-tabs, each of which will be discussed in further detail in the sections below.

Bond Data

The data in the
Bond Data
 tab pertains to the:
  • Importer Number
  • Query Results Code
  • Importer’s Name
  • Surety Code
  • Bond Type/Activity Code
  • Bond Amount
  • District/Port where the bond was filed
  • Bond Effective Date
  • Bond Number
A record is returned for each bond type/activity code on file. This tab will also show any additional date and status information for each bond found on file for the importer.

Mailing Address

The data in the
Mailing Address
 tab pertains to the mailing address on file for the queried Importer of Record (IOR) number.

Physical Address

The data in the
Physical Address
 tab pertains to the physical address on file for the queried Importer of Record (IOR) number.

Legal Name & Center Information

The data in the
Legal Name & Center Information
 tab pertains to the legal name and center information on file for the queried Importer of Record (IOR) number.
