Main or Third Country Duty and Preferential Duty

Main/Third Country Duty
and
Preferential Duty
grids have the following columns:
Column
Description
Origin
The country/group of countries for which the duty rate applies when importing into the country being researched.
Destination
The destination country for which the duty rate applies. This can also be a country group (e.g. European Union).
Rate
Duty rate (ad valorem, per unit, combination, etc.). If the government publishes a duty rate in a different format, this column displays a
SEE NOTE
link, which (if clicked) will take you to a note providing additional details about rate calculations.
Duty Type
The type of duty rate (i.e. main, preferential, etc.)
Effective Date
The effective date of a specific duty rate.
Expiration Date
The expiration date of a specific duty rate.
Min/Max
The minimum/maximum rate (if applicable) for a specific duty rate.
Excluded Countries
Any countries (if any) from country of origin group where the duty rate does not apply.
Export to Excel
Clicking this button will generate a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that contains all details provided in the grid.

If the text in the Origin (leftmost) column is colored for a duty rate, it is a link. Clicking this link opens the
Global Tariffs Additional Information
pop-up, which contains detailed information about the duty rate. If information is unavailable for any of the tabs listed below, that tab will not appear in the pop-up.

Duty Detail
Provides the same information available in the
Main/Third Country Duty
or
Preferential Duty
grid.
Country of Origin Group Detail
The countries where the specified duty rate is applied.
Rules of Origin
The rules of origin based on trade agreement, importing country, and HS Number. Some importing countries maintain their own rules of origin specific to the importing country.
If the preferential agreement name in the
Origin
column is hyperlinked, click the text to display legal text for the rule of origin.
