Additional Code - Types

When a country has codes filed in addition to the HS numbers, these codes are referred to as “additional codes”. Commonly, the source may label these additional codes as "Statistical Key", "Statistical", etc., which broadly describes their function. In Content, there are a variety of codes that get added as additional codes, as detailed below:
  1. Statistical Code declared along with HS Number: These codes are filed in the same field as the tariff HS number. This extends the tariff code for example, from 8 digits to 9. These additional codes usually further define the product.
  2. Statistical Key declared in a separate field: In some cases, Statistical Keys are declared in a separate field on the declaration form. These keys serve to further define the products for more precise product classification and data collection.
  3. Control Regulatory Code as additional code: Regulatory control codes play a crucial role in defining regulated products or specifying the certificates/documents necessary for importing or exporting a product. These codes are implemented as controls and can be found as additional codes under Related Details.
  4. Charges Related Codes as additional code: There are many tariffs that have additional codes associated with charges. These types of additional codes are loaded as Tariff Notes along with the charges and are also added under the Related Details in Content. These additional codes are of the following type:
  1. Additional code that defines duty rates, reduced duty rates or concessions.
  1. Additional Code that defines Document/Certificate codes associated to a charge that need to be submitted.
