UOM

a. Native language UOM

The Unit of Measure (UOM) is an important value used in Customs declaration. Depending on the country, the UOM could be provided in English or in both English and native language.
If the UOM is provided in more than one language in Content, it will be displayed in the format: [English UOM (AKA native language UOM)] where AKA means ‘Also Known As’.

b. UOM Code

In some special cases, a UOM is accompanied with a UOM code (for example ‘C62’ is the UOM code for ‘UNIT’).

c. Supplementary UOM

An HS number may include a supplementary UOM in addition to its primary UOM. For example, 'KG' indicates kilogram as the primary UOM and ‘KGM S’ as the supplementary UOM. The supplementary UOM is indicated as AKA UOM.

d. UOM for Child Tariff

Qatar and Oman, as child tariffs of the GCC Common External Customs Tariff (GCC), adhere to the GCC nomenclature. However, they have different UOM compared to the GCC tariff. Therefore, for these two tariffs, the UOMs are documented as UOMNOTE in the NOTES section of the Global Tariffs screen.
