Internal and External Notes
Notes can be used to capture, track, and share key information related to an entry. These notes can be used internally across the entry review team or externally with a Customs Broker.
To view internal and external notes, open the
Entry Validation
screen. Review the grid below and select an Entry Number ( Entry Num
) to open. 
Once an entry has been selected, all open validation errors for the entry will appear in a grid on the screen. Beneath the grid are the
Harmonized Data
and Broker Data
tabs. Both of these tabs have a View Notes
link showing how many notes are presently attached to the entry. Click on the View Notes
link. 
Once
View Notes
is clicked, a pop-up will appear on the screen, showing all Internal, External, Closed Discrepancy, and Validation Notes for the entry. These Notes
tabs are optional and may vary depending on how the system was configured. External Notes can also be configured to be included on any Error Report sent to a Customs Broker.To add a note, click on the appropriate tab for the note type, and then click
Add Note
. 
Clicking
Add Note
will open the Add Note
pop-up, which contains a drop-down box of reason codes. There are also options to add the validation error to the Broker, Internal, and/or External errors report.To add a note, complete all necessary fields and then click
Submit
.
