Additional Codes
In many countries, classifying a product with only an HS Number is not enough. At the time of border crossing, Customs and/or other governmental agencies may require that the importer or exporter also declare an Additional Code which provides more information about the commodity.
To add an Additional Code to a product, select a product which has already been classified with a fully-qualified HS number on
Edit Classification
and then click the Additional Codes
link.
If no HS Number has been associated to the product, the below system message will appear:

Otherwise, clicking
Additional Codes
will open the Additional Codes
pop-up. This pop-up will display a reminder of the GC Country Profile and the HS Number that the product is classified with at the top.Below that is a drop-down for each country in the Country Group to which the user is subscribed for that GC Country Profile (e.g. “EUG” for EU Group).

The drop-down will be populated with the appropriate choices of the one or more Additional Code(s) that are valid choices based on the Country and HS Number, per the data stored in ONESOURCE Global Trade Content. These drop-downs can be used to choose an Additional Code to apply to that product in that country. The additional Code Type will be visible to assist the user in making the appropriate choice. The Import Country drop-down list provides users with an option to save Additional Codes associated with a specific country to differentiate between times when different Codes need to be used in different countries.

Additional information can also be provided from the “
?
” ToolTip beside the drop-down:
Add New Record

to save the product.
