Custom HS Mappings
The
Custom HS Mappings
tab is used for applying an HS Number to a product that has already been classified in one or more countries based on a user-defined cross reference table.This cross-reference table (Edit Custom Mappings) can be accessed from the
Maintenance
menu and is covered in more detail in the Edit Custom Mappings
section of this User Guide.Unlike the other tabs,
Custom HS Mappings
contains two sub-tabs: Active
and “Dismissed”. Each subtab is covered in more detail in the sections below.
Active
The
Active
sub-tab contains any products in a selected Source Country that are classified with a valid Custom Mapped HS Number, provided those products have not been dismissed.The information provided on this grid includes:
- Product Number
- Product Description
- Source HS Number
- Source HS Description
Additional information on a product can be viewed by clicking the product’s corresponding expansion arrow on the far left.
When the expansion arrow is clicked, a smaller grid will appear below the product. This grid reminds the user which countries and mapped HS Numbers have been set up in the Custom Mappings cross-reference table earlier to choose from. Additional information about the product or the mapped Custom HS Number can be accessed by clicking on the colored links of the Product Number and Mapped HS Number respectively.
To apply a mapped HS Number to the product record in the mapped country profile, check the box on the far left and then click
Apply
. If all mappings apply, the Select All
box above the grid can be checked.
A confirmation pop-up appears. Click
OK
to proceed with the changes or “Cancel” to drop changes and return to the HS Mapping
screen.
Once the update is accepted in the system, a validation message will appear on the screen:
Dismiss
In the event that a Custom HS Mapping does not apply to a specific product, the user has the ability to dismiss the product from the
Active
sub-tab.To dismiss an active product, determine which product is to be dismissed and click its corresponding expansion arrow on the far left.
Once the expanded grid is visible, check the product’s corresponding box on the far left. If all products are to be dismissed, click
Select All
.
Once all products to be dismissed have been selected,
click
the “Dismiss” button at the top of the grid.
A confirmation pop-up will appear, asking the user to confirm the dismissal. Click
OK
to proceed or Cancel
to drop changes and return to the HS Mapping
screen.
If
OK
was clicked, the product will be moved to the Dismissed
tab.Although dismissed products cannot be moved back to the
Active
tab, users can still apply HS Mappings under the Dismissed
tab. This is especially useful if the product record was incorrectly dismissed.
