Direct HS Mappings
The
Direct HS Mappings
tab contains a list of products that have been classified at the 6-digit Global level but have mismatched HS data at the Country level. This could mean either:- A fully qualified HS Number does not exist in the country-specific HS Record.
- The first six (6) digits of the Global HS Number do not match. Additionally, for these Global HS Numbers, the Global Trade Content system determined that only a single country-level HS Number exists to choose from.
For each product, validate that the
Mapped HS Number
being suggested is correct and consistent with the Product Number and Global HS Number. For additional information about a product, click on the Product Number link to open the
Edit Classification
screen.
For additional information about an HS Number, click the HS Number link to open
Global Tariffs
.
To validate the Mapped HS Number, click on a Mapped HS Number.

Clicking on a Mapped HS Number will open the
Global Tariffs Detail
pop-up. Review the fully qualified HS Number and confirmit’s the correct number.
If the Mapped HS Number is correct, check the product’s corresponding box on the far left, and then click
Apply
.
A confirmation pop-up appears. Click
OK
to proceed with the changes or Cancel to drop changes and return to the HS Mapping
screen.
The screen updates the country-specific HS Number to the fully-qualified Mapped HS Number.
The system will automatically validate the new HS Numbers against Global Trade Content to ensure they are valid. This will prevent products from being classified with invalid HS Numbers.
If both valid and invalid HS Numbers are selected at the same time, the valid numbers will get applied and the invalid numbers will remain selected in the grid. A message will appear, letting the user know that the HS Numbers are not valid.

Once the update is accepted in the system, a validation message will appear on the screen:
