Smart HS search

In the SMART HS search screen, you can use an assistant to attribute HS numbers to your products.

To access
Smart HS search
:
You can access this screen in 2 ways, which slightly change its functionality.
From the main menu:
  1. Open the
    Global Classification
     menu.
  2. Go to
    Tools and Templates
    .
  3. Select
    SMART HS search
    .
  4. From Product record:
  5. In
    Product record
    , select
    Actions
    .
  6. Select
    SMART HS search
    .

Classify a product using the Smart HS assistant

You can use
Smart HS
 to classify products going through the following 5 steps. You can always go back and forth to ensure accurate classification.
  1. Select a
    Country profile
    .
  2. In the
    Select search language field
    , select a language.
  3. Step 1:
  4. On the
    Describe your product
     field, enter the product’s description separated by commas. For example: shoes, big, leather. If you access this screen from a product record, the product’s description will already be there. You can leave it, alter it, or delete it based on its accuracy for the product.This field has a 500-character limit.
  5. Select
    Next
     to continue.
  6. Step 2:
     You will either see stored templates from previously classified products or receive a notification if no templates are available.
  7. You can opt to use a template at this point or proceed without one.
  8. Select

  9. Step 3:
     The system will provide possible characteristics to help you classify your product.
  10. Select to check the corresponding characteristics assigned to the product.
  11. Submit the selected characteristic.

  13. Step 4:
  14. Review the grids in the tabs Suggested HS Numbers and Binding rulings to make sure data is accurate. Depending on your access point, you have different options:
  15. From a Product Record:
  16. Select
    Save HS number
     to add the new HS number to the product record. This also adds the Classification Certificate to the Documents tab in the Product record screen.
  17. From the Main Menu:
  18. Select
    Download Certificate
     to generate a Classification Certificate document with a detailed explanation of how the system classified the product. In case you don’t have a template set for this kind of product, you can also select
    Skip to create HS template
    , this takes you to step 5. Description includes intermediate levels of tariff schedule, including floating descriptions.
  19. Step 5:
     If you want to create an HS template based on the provided information:
  20. Use the checkboxes to select the product characteristics you want to apply to the template.
  21. Select
    Create HS template
    .
  22. Enter a template name.
  23. Select
    Save
    .
    The template will become available next time you need to classify a product or generate a certificate. You can also review all templates in the Smart HS template screen.
