Copper Smelt and Cast

Proclamation 11021 (91 FR 18201) has been issued that requires new Copper Smelt and Cast data elements for importers. These new data elements are required on Entry Summary filings for certain copper tariff codes and guidance from CBP has been provided in CSMS 69252300. Please review these documents to see if any of your products fall under the new reporting requirements.
If your system has been configured for it, the
Copper Smelt and Cast
action button can be used to report the items that are subject to copper reporting requirements for US Imports. Specifically, you will be able to add in the Primary and Secondary Country of Smelt as well as the Country of Most Recent Cast. This data can then be fed on to our USABI self-filing solution to send directly on your Entry Summary filing or can be configured to send to a broker for broker filing with USCBP.

The System Messages tab may display which lines might require copper reporting.
Click
Copper Smelt and Cast
on the top right of the screen to open the pop-up.
Check the boxes of the entry lines you want to apply the data to.
Hover your cursor to the
Action
option and click
Copper Smelt and Cast Requirements
.
A pop-up will appear that alerts you that data will be applied. Click
OK
if you wish to proceed.
The
User Input
pop-up will appear. On the column
Input
, use the dropdowns to select a country to each of the messages described below.

You must click directly inside the input field to make the country dropdown visible. If the dropdown does not appear, click the input field again to activate it.

Action
Primary Country of Smelt (Valid country or OTH)
Provide the ISO country code where the copper was originally smelted. If unknown, report "OTH." This field is mandatory.
Secondary Country of Smelt (Valid country or OTH)
If a secondary country of smelt applies, provide the ISO country code or "OTH." This field is optional.
Country of Most Recent Cast
Provide the ISO country code where the copper was most recently cast. If unknown, report "OTH." This field is mandatory.
Click
Save
when all three fields are filled out.
After saving the input, a successful message is displayed, and the countries are displayed in the grid.
You will be able to edit the Copper Smelt and Cast data before shipments are in a Processed status. One in Processed status, the data will be viewable but read only. Click
Undo Shipment Processing
if changes need to be made to this data.
